About Yvonne Kamau

Yvonne Kamau joined FIND in April 2023 as a Scientist in the NCD Programme. She is a qualified pharmacist in Kenya with vast experience in clinical trial management, public health research and clinical pharmacy. Her previous work was focused on malaria elimination integrating mass drug administration as a complementary vector control tool to reduce malaria transmission in east and southern Africa.

Prior to joining FIND, Yvonne was a clinical trial coordinator at KEMRI-Welcome Trust Research Program where she led the implementation of a phase one and later phase two clinical trial involving 20,000 participants in rural Kenya. This study funded by Unitaid was the first large-scale trial evaluating the impact of ivermectin-only mass drug administration to humans or humans and cattle on local malaria transmission. Yvonne is passionate about health systems strengthening and non-communicable disease management using implementation research to influence health policy for the promotion of health equity.

Yvonne has a training in health research methods and a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of Nairobi. Her master’s work was a cross-sectional study investigating the prevalence and predictors of virologic failure among HIV-1 patients on antiretroviral therapy in Makueni County in Kenya.
