AMR laboratory scorecard package
In recognition of the need for specific technical guidance for AMR-related testing, FIND, Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (ACDC), the African Union (AU) and the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) have developed the AMR Laboratory Scorecard package with support from Becton Dickinson. The package aims to improve the use of diagnostics to identify pathogens in human and veterinary microbiology laboratories. Collectively, the package can be used to optimise surveillance and early detection of AMR in low- and middle-income countries and improve compliance to a technical standard of testing in microbiology laboratories, resulting in enhanced patient treatment and management.
The AMR Scorecard can be used as an internal assessment tool or in parallel with SLIPTA (Stepwise Laboratory Improvement Process Towards Accreditation) as an entry point on the journey towards quality management. Laboratories can then chose to apply either for SLIPTA certification or directly for ISO accreditation.
