A propos de Marco Marklewitz

Marco joined FIND as Scientific Officer in the Sequencing Programme in October 2021. Before joining FIND, Marco worked as Laboratory Expert in the Incident Management Support Team (IMST) at the WHO Regional Office for Europe in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he provided support to laboratories in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) as part of the COVID-19 pandemic response. His expertise encompasses the diversity and evolution of viruses, their ecology, and the identification of factors driving their emergence.

As an infection biologist, Marco holds a doctoral degree in virology from the University of Bonn, Germany, and has worked as a research scientist at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, one of Europe’s largest and most research-intensive medical institutions. He has lived and worked in diverse settings such as Africa, Asia, South-Eastern Europe, and Latin America where he has coordinated and supervised interdisciplinary teams in both the laboratory and the field.
