Malaria RDT Product Testing — Interactive Guide
World Health Organization (WHO) criteria for procurement of malaria rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) were amended in December 2017 (for Pf-only tests) and again in 2018 (for combination tests). Subsequently, malaria RDTs must undergo WHO prequalification and as a result, the list of malaria RDTs from which procurers can choose has become shorter.
At the end of 2017, as per agreement, FIND transferred its role and responsibilities in the joint WHO-FIND Malaria RDT Evaluation Programme to the WHO and is therefore no longer actively maintaining the interactive guide they designed to support malaria RDT selection. A static version of the guide, with verified data from WHO product testing rounds 1 to 8, can be temporarily accessed using the link below. This version includes the last updates made in September 2018. Any new information about RDT performance evaluations or prequalification after this date is NOT included.
More recent information about the laboratory performance of malaria RDTs and their prequalification status can be obtained through the WHO Prequalification of In-Vitro Diagnostics Programme here. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
