Covid 2.0 lessons learned from global pandemics and infectious diseases

World Health Assembly side event

Date/time: 17 May at 12:00 PM (CEST)

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed weaknesses in our public health from many perspectives and exacerbated global inequalities enabling new variants to emerge and spread amongst populations. However, despite this the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated efforts to speed up innovation in vaccine development and manufacturing capabilities and capacities and resulted in important engagement between scientific, governing and industrial bodies. The detection, monitoring and control of infectious disease is an ongoing and evolving challenge. How do we ensure that this new understanding and lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic can be leveraged to reduce the burden of disease for a better future for global health for infectious diseases.

Dr Sergio Carmona, Chief Medical Office at FIND will give a speech on infectious disease threats of HPV and TB.
