About Cathy Haldane

Cathy Haldane is the Head of the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Programme at FIND, the global alliance for diagnostics. Based in South Africa, she is a trained pharmacist with over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and diagnostics sectors, bringing a unique perspective that bridges product access, health systems, and patient-centered care.

Cathy leads a dedicated and diverse team working to expand access to diabetes diagnostics and technologies in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), with a strong focus on public sector integration, affordability, and equity. Her work is shaped by a growing commitment to social justice and by continuous learning from those most affected by health system gaps, particularly people living with diabetes, healthcare workers, and public health partners.

She currently oversees the ACCEDE project, a multi-country initiative working to scale access to continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in South Africa and Kenya. The project spans research, capacity strengthening, and co-creation with communities to ensure technologies meet the realities of real-world needs and resources.

Her work reflects a belief that innovation alone is not enough; it must be matched by real-world feasibility, affordability, and alignment with public systems. She is passionate about collaborative approaches that centre lived experience, and about translating technical concepts into policies and practices that make a difference at the point of care.
