About Emilie Alirol

Emilie Alirol joined FIND as Senior Director of Clinical Affairs in 2023. She has over 15 years’ experience in developing new treatments and diagnostics for neglected and under-served populations. She started her career as a clinical research scientist with the clinical trial unit of Geneva University Hospitals, where she focused on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and HIV research. 

She then spent 3 years with Doctors without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières – MSF) as a Trial Manager for a large MDR-TB trial. During the 2014 Ebola epidemics she was also an advisor to the MSF Ebola Research Platform on all issues related to research ethics and clinical trials implementation. Emilie joined the Global Antibiotics Research and Development Partnership (GARDP) in 2016, where she led the Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Program for 4 years. In October 2020, she moved to Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) where she led the planning and conduct of post-marketing studies to support the roll-out of new tools for vivax malaria.

Emilie also has a keen interest for research integrity and bioethics. She is a former member of the Geneva University Hospital Ethics Committee and a former vice chair of the WHO Ethics Review Committee. She is a fellow of the Global Forum for Research Ethics and Integrity (GRFEI), and a lecturer at Geneva University where she teaches on drugs and devices development and clinical trials. She has published her work in several peer-reviewed articles.

Emilie holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Geneva and a Masters in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
