About Fritz Fonkeng

Fritz is currently working as Technical Officer in Abuja, Nigeria on outbreak and pandemic preparedness projects under the Emerging Threats programme of FIND. He joined FIND in February 2017 as HCV Project Manager based in Yaoundé, Cameroon where he worked with the Department for Disease Control, Epidemics and Pandemics to demonstrate the feasibility of different testing models for viral hepatitis.

Fritz is a Microbiologist with extensive lab strengthening experience. . In 2016, he was Coordinator for the SLMTA lab strengthening programme and HIV rapid diagnosis quality assurance, with emphasis on the Deido health district, one of the areas with the highest HIV/AIDS prevalence in the country. In 2014, he implemented QMS at the National Early Infant Diagnosis Reference Laboratory which received ISO 15189 accreditation, becoming the first internationally accredited laboratory in the central African sub-region. Fritz also did cross mentoring on QMS with reference and regional laboratories across the country and as an SLIPTA auditor.
