International Women's Day message

On International Women’s Day 2022, FIND endorses the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) guidelines developed by the European Association of Science Editors (EASE). We have adopted SAGER guidelines in our FIND scientific publications policy, reflecting our commitment to ensuring systematic and transparent reporting on sex and gender in scientific publications and in our work to ensure innovation and access to testing for the world’s most pressing health needs.

Diagnostics are a vital source of health and surveillance data for countries around the world, yet data and analyses on sex and gender in our field are often missing or not robust enough. As part of the development of our current strategy, we developed a report together with Women in Global Health, in collaboration with Women Political Leaders, that aimed to collect data on women, diagnostics, and universal health coverage. The report, ‘Health in their hands’ pointed to this lack of data. We remain committed to helping to fill this gap to ensure that sex disaggregation of data and gender analyses lead to better diagnostic product design, development, and delivery – ultimately contributing to better quality science and better health outcomes for all.

We strongly encourage other organizations to endorse and apply the SAGER guidelines and work with us towards a more gender-equal global health world.
