GENEVA, SWITZERLAND - 23/09/2024.

FIND is pleased to announce two new members to its Board who will bring expertise and experience from across different countries and contexts to FIND’s Board governance.

Professor Marcel Tanner is an epidemiologist and public health specialist. He was previously the Director of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and currently the President of the Swiss Academy of Sciences and a member of the Board of the Botnar Foundation.

Hatem Amer is Associate Minister of Health & Population for International Relations for the Arab Republic of Egypt and brings multilateral and bilateral expertise in foreign and international relations with cross sectoral stakeholders to the FIND Board. As a pharmacist and lawyer, Hatem bring expertise from across the health and legal sector to FIND. He has spoken on many occasions about the return on investment that diagnostics has delivered in Egypt.

Dr Ayoade Alakija, FIND Chair said “I am excited to welcome two new Board members to now have an intergenerational board serving the interests of FIND. This combines decades of experience and wisdom with new ideas from across the world. In this changing world, our governance structures must reflect the rebalancing of power, north and south, voices of our agile young and our wise elders.

Welcome Hatem and Marcel.

Like many other organizations, we are experiencing a post-COVID19 contraction in funding. We are transforming our organization and looking to the future of diagnostics, where digital technologies, AI and other advances will influence and reshape our operations.

FIND was created over 21 years ago to serve the needs of low- and middle-income country populations, which remains our focus and our mission. Now we are also beginning to see a leadership both at executive and at board level that reflects the communities that we were created to serve. It is only then that we can truly achieve diagnosis for all.”

The FIND Board also welcomes as ex officio member, CEO Dr Ifedayo Adetifa.
