GHSCS 2019

The 12th Global Health Supply Chain Summit (GHSCS) is being held from 20-22 November 2019 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The conference theme is Maximizing Global Health Supply Chain Impact: Data and Analytics, Entrepreneurship and Accessibility.

Heidi Albert, Head of FIND South Africa, is presenting at the following sessions:

1. Lessons from optimizing TB diagnostic networks in Kenya and the Philippines: using supply chain design software to design patient-centered TB diagnostic networks

  • Diagnostic services are essential to finding and treating the missing cases of TB, yet services are often not available where patients first seek care and referral systems are weak.  Despite the underutilization of new diagnostic technologies, there remains an unmet demand for services. FIND has partnered with TB programs in Kenya and the Philippines to assess and find opportunities to optimize their diagnostic network designs to improve access to services for the population, increase uptake of new diagnostic products, and enhance cost and operational efficiency of the network.

2. Building an open-access software tool to allow countries to design patient-centered and cost-effective diagnostic networks

  • Diagnostic services are essential to finding and treating diseases in low- and middle-income countries.  We have partnered with disease programs in low and middle-income countries to assess and find opportunities to optimize their diagnostic network designs to improve access to services for the population, increase uptake of new diagnostic products, and enhance cost and operational efficiency of the network.
