World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2021

World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) is celebrated from 18-24 November every year. The 2021 theme, Spread Awareness, Stop Resistance, calls on One Health stakeholders, policymakers, health care providers, and the general public to be Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness champions.

Some of the WAAW2021 events FIND is participating in:

  • 17 November – Sanjay Sarin, Vice President, Access, FIND, will participate in a tweetchat on Spread awareness, stop resistance – the role of pharmacists organized by the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association. More information here.
  • 18 November – Cecilia Ferreyra, Head of AMR, FIND, will speak on The role of diagnostics in the fight against AMR, the LMICs perspective during a session on Accelerating AMR R&D at the Emerging Antimicrobials and Diagnostics in AMR (EADA) 2021 conference. Register here.
  • 22 November – Bill Rodriguez, CEO, FIND, will join a virtual conversation on Handling antibiotics with care: the crucial role of diagnostics in the fight against AMR. View the recording below.
  • 23 November – Cecilia Ferreyra will participate in a panel on the Role of diagnostics in guiding optimal use of antibiotics during a session on Supporting the optimal use of antimicrobial medicines through innovation, organized by AMR Industry Alliance. More information here.
  • 23 November – Cecilia Ferreyra will participate in a high-level meeting on Combatting Antimicrobial Resistance in Brazil organized by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU).
