AMR assessment tool for laboratory strengthening

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global problem, widely being referred to as the silent pandemic. In Africa, it’s estimated that AMR could kill 4.1 million people by 2050 and developing countries could lose up to 5% of their GDP as a result of AMR. Reliable and actionable test results are essential to the delivery of high-quality patient care and prevention of AMR. Many microbiology laboratories struggle to ensure quality testing, and only a few have achieved any form of accreditation. The SLIPTA initiative has gone some way to facilitating laboratory improvement, yet a focus on quality specifically linked to laboratory processes involved in AMR (culture of specific samples, identification and susceptibility testing) is needed.

Please join us for this important webinar on Wednesday, 6 October 2021, 15:00–16:30 (EAT) during which we will introduce the AMR Laboratory Scorecard package and provide guidance on its use. Together with experts from Africa CDC, Mott MacDonald, and ASLM, Cecilia Ferreyra, Head of AMR at FIND and André Trollip, Senior Technical Officer, FIND, will give an introduction to the AMR laboratory scorecard package.
