G20 in India 2023

Diagnostic priorities at the 2023 health working group discussions in India.

Thank you, India

As India’s G20 Presidency concludes, we congratulate and thank the Government of India on their leadership in a year when healthcare, pandemic recovery and health system resilience has been at the centre of the global agenda. We are grateful to have been invited to engage with the G20 throughout the year, which has allowed us to highlight the central role of diagnostics in enabling access to healthcare for everyone, everywhere. We look forward to working with Brazil to continue highlighting the need to close diagnostic gaps that prevent people from accessing the tests they need.

In April 2023, FIND and Unitaid brought together 22 diagnostics manufacturers from 13 different countries in Goa, which culminated in recommendations on regional manufacturing of diagnostics that were presented to Indian government leadership, G20 member states, guest countries and international organizations at a high-level event we co-hosted with the Department of Pharmaceuticals. The meetings highlighted the critical need for collaborative R&D and manufacturing networks that can complement existing efforts and strengthen local capacities.
